Boots of Messi’s 234th goal now in Museum

Since today Friday, the boots worn by the Argentinian on the day he overcame legend César to become top scorer in club history are on display in the Museum

They will take the place occupied until now by the boots he wore when he scored the five thousandth goal in club history

The boots Leo Messi more when he became Barça’s all-time highest scorer are now on show in the Club Museum. The Argentinian topped the record set by César Rodríguez on March 20, 2012, when he scored a hat-trick in a 5-3 Liga win over Granada.

Before starting the game, Messi already had 231 goals in his account, and made it 234 that day, and had since gone on to take the tally up to 253. He presented the boots he wore as he scored that club hat-trick to the Club just after the Copa del Rey Final, and the director of the Museum, Jordi Penas, put them on display today, close to one of the latest awards won by Pep Guardiola (World Manager of the Year 2011).
The boots replace another pair that Messi wore on the day he scored the five thousandth goal in club history, back in the 2008/2009 season in a game away to Racing Santander, where a brace by the Argentinian led the side to a 2-1 win.
